Jared Grey, the new “head chef” of the decentralized exchange SushiSwap, is defending himself after being accused of fraud and other serious misdeeds. Recently hired by Sushi DAO as the new head honcho, Grey has been accused of stealing cryptocurrency community funds in 2019 from a project named ALQO.

An alleged history of scams

A Twitter user going by the pseudonym yannickcrypto.eth, alleges that Grey was responsible for launching the Liberio wallet for ALQO, which was subsequently utilized to steal 70% of the entire supply.

Subsequently, the Twitter user claims Grey has a long history of scams, back from 2012 when he was accused of duping investors via his firm “MultiPlex Pc.”

Furthermore, the user continued that Grey and his developer Kevin Collmer convinced several coin founders to pay 1 BTC as listing fees for the Bitfineon exchange, which was never launched. Consequently, Grey allegedly amassed 20 BTC via this operation.

It was during this span of time that ALQO was renamed to EONS and moved from its own Blockchain to Ethereum, allegedly to “kill all traces.”

Grey denies allegations

Defending himself on Twitter, Grey wrote, “the accusations towards me are 100% untrue.” According to him, his business partner took the money in 2019 when he was “raising funds to launch the Bitfineon exchange.”

To back up his claims, Grey included a medium article from the time that said the project had fired the true scammer, Kevin Collmer, and repaid those who had been scammed.

I have always operated with integrity in this space; you can reach out to anyone I’ve worked with directly over the years. I’ve had business failures, which CT (Crypto Twitter) likes to scrutinize, and I’m OK with that because it comes with the territory,” Grey wrote.

As a result of the accusations, the price of SushiSwap’s native token, SUSHI, has dropped by 10.5% in the last 24 hours.
