Dubai Court Approves Crypto Payments as Valid Salary Method

Dubai’s Court of First Instance has made a groundbreaking decision by recognizing cryptocurrency as a valid salary payment. The court’s recent ruling allows payments in digital tokens, such as EcoWatt tokens, to be honored as specified in employment contracts without converting them into fiat currency. This decision marks a significant shift from a 2023 ruling that required clear valuation methods for crypto payments. UAE lawyer Irina Heaver highlights this as a progressive move, indicating broader acceptance of digital currencies in the UAE’s legal and economic systems and promoting innovation in financial transactions.
