- Presidential candidate Kamala Harris supports AI and crypto to build an opportunity economy.
- Harris asserted that investors and consumers can benefit by investing in such technologies.
- Earlier, Harris had supported AI, clean energy, semiconductors, and other industries.
Vice President Kamala Harris finally broke her silence on crypto. In a speech at a Wall Street fundraiser in Manhattan, Harris stated that crypto could be a pathbreaker for the country. The presidential candidate stated that crypto and artificial intelligence (AI) would aid in building an ‘opportunity economy.’
Harris stated that her vision of an opportunity economy would bring together laborers, innovators, founders, small businesses, and large corporations together. She added that with this collaboration, the future of the country can be enhanced. Further, she implied that AI and digital assets will help to create a safe business environment. Harris said,
We will encourage innovative technologies like AI and digital assets while protecting consumers and investors. We will create a safe business environment with consistent and transparent rules of the road.
The cryptocurrency community was elated to see the public remark from Harris, unlike Joe Biden, who was not favorable to the sector. This was the first time that Kamala Harris has spoken about supporting cryptocurrency. Even in her earlier policies, Harris had not made any statement regarding crypto. In the policy, released on her official website, Harris had aimed to support American leadership in semiconductors, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. Many followers pointed out that AI was more highlighted than cryptocurrency.
Additionally, Harris is set to roll out a new set of economic policies. These policies will focus on providing tax benefits to families and small businesses and are said to be announced on Wednesday. These policies were brought in after many questioned Harris’s strategy for improving the country’s economic state.
Harris Triumphs Over Trump in Debate, Shakes Crypto MarketsNotably, Donald Trump, former president and a Republican candidate, had already started his attempts to woo the crypto industry. Trump had earlier purchased burgers at Pubkey, a Bitcoin bar in New York City. Additionally, he launched a crypto project, World Liberty Financial, last week to strengthen his stand in the crypto economy. The fundraiser event is said to be Harris’s final speech in New York before the November elections. Tickets for the event ranged from $500 to $1 million.
