- Brave Browser announces a BAT reward program, allowing users to earn rewards on Solana wallet addresses.
- Select users will receive notifications from the browser, and they can unlock a self-custody address on Solana.
- The browser has selected Solana for its partnership owing to the blockchain’s low-cost transaction efficiency.
The privacy-focused web browser Brave recently announced a significant update in its collaboration with Solana. According to Brave’s official announcement, select users could earn monthly BAT rewards using a Solana wallet address.
Initially, the self-custody BAT payouts will be in the form of an invite-only factor, restricted to a small set of early users. The program serves as an advertising model, allowing users to earn BATs by viewing ads on the application. Users receiving notifications from Brave can unlock a self-custody address on Solana, thereby receiving BAT rewards on-chain. The post read,
Brave lets users connect custodial accounts so they can receive BAT payouts, but the system excludes users who can’t sign up with one of our custodial partners. That’s why we’re bringing Rewards on-chain.
Brave Browser’s current move further bolsters its alliance with Solana blockchain, which it unveiled in November 2021. The partnership intended to “bring best-in-class wallet features for the Solana blockchain into Brave’s Web3 desktop and mobile browsers in the first half of 2022.”
According to Brave’s recent blog post, the browser selected Solana as its strategic partner owing to the blockchain’s appreciatory features. For instance, per the platform’s assertions, Solana’s transaction cost is minimal compared to other blockchains such as Ethereum. Brave Browser stated,
We chose Solana as the ideal network for the launch of on-chain Brave Rewards given its high transaction speed and low fees, which help reduce the costs associated with distributing BAT earnings to hundreds of thousands of users.
Following the announcement, the BAT token has shown a notable shift to $0.2602, with a surge of 4.4%. However, the token soon dipped into a bearish track, currently trading at $0.2452, with a 24-hour decline of 3.83%. Solana is currently on a similar bearish track, plummeting by 3.34%, despite a moderate surge after Brave’s reward announcement.
