Greg Kohs is a ten-time Emmy-winning filmmaker. He collaborated with the Coinbase team to create the documentary. Armstrong had contacted the talented director after watching AlphaGo. He further elaborates on Twitter mentioning that the documentary was made with extensive research. The Coinbase team had given Kohs exclusive access inside the company. This allowed him to document the journey of this massive cryptocurrency platform.
The documentary shows the struggles, hardships, and celebrations many tech start-ups face in the industry and how start-ups grow to become public companies. The film team’s goal was to clear the fog around topics like cryptocurrency and building a tech start-up. He hoped that viewers would be inspired to begin startups watching the film too.
He wishes for the world to view founders as ordinary people with a dream to create services the population needs, demolishing the popular notion of founders being villains or a hero. Specifically, people working in the cryptocurrency ecosystem in hopes of a more just, and free global financial system.
