The Firozabad police station has recently released a Tweet announcing the launch of a new system to file an FIR (First Information Report). This development has the potential of making the justice system more accessible to everyone.

Many crimes go unreported due to corrupt officials and authorities refusing to let victims report them or once reported, they manipulate complaints to change the entire narrative of the report. This unjust treatment commonly occurs with rape victims and those that are underprivileged. However, the introduction of the blockchain system to file FIR reports will eradicate the need for a middleman.

With this newly introduced system, there will be lesser chances of anyone interfering in the path of justice and the people. Co-founder of Polygon, Sandeep Nailwal retweeted the Firozabad Police tweet speaking of the newest development. He praises Hon’ble IPS, Ashish Tiwari, for his efforts to bring forth this system.

In his thread, he proposes the blockchain system of filing FIR be shifted online for people to file this report using their identity cards, lower-level officers will not have the access to intervene and possibly cancel the FIR report. He mentions that this system implementation will be a game-changer for the Indian justice system, and more people will be receiving justice.

In this system, if an FIR is registered, the report will be received by millions of machines in the network via the mining replication process. Hence, authorities can’t remove any FIR reports. Hence, corrupt people in power will not be able to influence any reports.

The Uttar Pradesh government has been implementing blockchain technology in many of its systems to increase efficiency. In December 2020, the government initiated the first blockchain-enabled P2P trading platform for the rooftop solar power energy segment.
