IOG VP Tim Harrison Reflects on Cardano in 2022

Tim Harrison, VP (Community & Ecosystem), Input Output Global (IOG), reflects on 2022 as a year of the Cardano community.

In the shared video titled, ‘A Year of Community: Cardano in 2022,’ Harrison welcomes the age of Voltaire. He states 2022 has been a landmark year for the Cardano ecosystem. He gives all the credit for success to the global Cardano community.

Sharing Harrison’s Cardano reflection, Charles Hoskinson, CEO, IOG, tweeted:

He commended a global movement of developers, entrepreneurs, and even artists building novel solutions on rock-solid foundations.

Harrison is amazed by the new solutions, businesses, and experiences built by the Cardano stakeholders as a whole. He gives the moniker, ‘the age of Voltaire,’ to the new age we are looking forward to.

In an effort to capture the essence of Cardano, a snapshot of all the collective Cardano developments is shared by IOG. The idea is to put together all the innovations of Cardano in one place via a dedicated guide.

The said guide is titled, ‘The Essential Cardano Guide to the Ecosystem.’ It features a couple of projects building on Cardano. The valuable guide, says Harrison, would offer foundational knowledge of all the incredible work going on in the community.

Harrison then reflects on the beginning of 2022 with the Vasel upgrade. It is named after the Bulgarian mathematician Vasel Stoyanov Dabov, a passionate Cardano ambassador.

Harrison considers the Vasel upgrade a significant milestone as it brought a rise in Cardano’s performance and scalability. The Vasel upgrade boosted the entire network’s capability in 2022, says Harrison.

He mentioned the milestone 2022 events, such as discussing auditing and certification in Barcelona. He also referred to exchanging ideas and sharing experiences in Panama.

Harrison applauded the community representing Cardano at Consensus, paving the way for innovation in Austin, Texas. The event focused on sharing the vision of enabling a level playing field for everyone in the world.

Time Harrison lauded the community working towards offering equal access to economic identity and financial services via Cardano.

At Consensus, Harrison says, IOG proudly threw light on side chains, Plutus, project Catalyst, etc., as key Cardano components.

Events organized by the community celebrated creators and assembled builders from across the ecosystem, Harrison says. These include CNFT Con in Las Vegas and Rare Bloom in Denver.

At these events, Harrison says IOG proudly introduced the new light wallet platform ‘lace.’ lace, per Harrison, is built to unlock web3 for everyone.

IO Scott Fest in Edinburgh sealed 2022 for IOG where it launched the ‘Edinburgh Decentralization Index (EDI).’ EDI is meant to infuse greater transparency and inclusive accountability to the decentralized technology sphere.

Midnight, a new data protection-focused Cardano sidechain, was also introduced. The Cardano Foundation also hosted the Cardano Summit 2022 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Harrison says Cardano believes the future of blockchain technology depends upon academic rigor and fundamental research. This vision led Cardano to launch the Blockchain Research Hub at Stanford University, to promote decentralization.

Harrison presented the milestones achieved by the Cardano community in numbers:

  • 8 Cardano-focused research papers accepted and presented at major conferences
  • 39 papers covering all aspects of decentralized technology were presented
  • 7,681 students participated in the Plutus Pioneers Program
  • 2,000 Atala Pioneers worldwide
  • 2,633 students signed-up for the Haskell bootcamp
  • 56,772 Cardano commits on GitHub
