2023 is the year of zk-EVMs (zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machines) to be on the rise. In context, with zkSync’s total value locked (TVL) reportedly being $50 million, Polygon’s (MATIC) zk-EVM has a reported TVL of $750K, as of April 4.
While Scroll, Linea, and Taiko’s testnets support multiple functions, early adopters, per Nansen Research, might qualify for a potential airdrop.
Sharing the insights on zk-EVMs, Nansen Research tweeted:

Nansen Research states, The spectrum of zkEVMs ranges from Type 1 (bytecode-compatible) with full EVM equivalence and slow proof generation to Type 4 (language-compatible) with EVM compatibility and fast proof generation.
Polygon zk-EVM and zkSync Era’s recent mainnet launch is now live, hosting various protocols. Their respective TVLs are $750K and $50 million, as of April 4, 2023. Nansen Research anticipates the statistics to rise as new protocols get added in future.
Scroll, Linea, and Taiko, per Nansen Research, are “in their testnet phase, but are expected to launch their mainnets later this year, around Q4 2023 or Q1 2024.” On the testnet, it is possible for users to “bridge, swap, pool, mint, and deploy contracts.”
zkSync and Taiko are also reportedly set to launch a token in their decentralization efforts. Scroll and Linea, Nansen Research states, haven’t made any official “announcements” about their airdrops.
In related news, Aave’s version 3’s launch on the Polygon zk-EVM and BNB Chain is reportedly approved by its community via a governance vote. While Vitalik Buterin has reportedly called for deploying zk-EVM on Ethereum, he is optimistic that zk-EVM would expedite Ethereum’s verification process, whilst keeping the network decentralized and secured.
On the other hand, Justin Sun has also expressed interest in exploring the integration of zk-EVM with Tron.
