- Revolut partners with Ledger, enabling verified users to buy crypto directly on Ledger Live.
- Non-Revolut users can access crypto via KYC verification and card payments on Ledger Live.
- Revolut has expanded crypto services with initiatives like Revolut Ramp and Revolut X earlier this year.
Revolut, the British fintech giant, has teamed up with Ledger, a leader in cryptocurrency self-custody solutions, to simplify the process of buying cryptocurrencies for verified users. This partnership promises to streamline the entry into the digital asset world, making it more accessible for enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Simplified Crypto Purchases on Ledger Live
Revolut users who have completed their identity verification can now purchase cryptocurrencies directly on Ledger Live without undergoing additional checks. This integration offers a seamless transition for existing Revolut customers to engage with crypto investments securely and conveniently.
Options for Non-Revolut Users
Individuals who do not use Revolut are not left behind. They can verify their identity through an integrated Know Your Customer (KYC) process within Ledger Live. Once verified, these users can utilize their Visa or Mastercard to make crypto purchases, broadening access to digital assets.
Statements from Revolut and Ledger
Emil Urmanshin, Crypto General Manager at Revolut, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing its role in securely and smoothly onboarding users to Web3 and self-custody. The joint statement highlighted the partnership’s goal to expand access to crypto by providing a new on-ramp for users, facilitating an easy and straightforward introduction to the digital assets and Web3 space.
Recent Expansions in Revolut’s Crypto Services
The collaboration with Ledger is part of Revolut’s broader strategy to enhance its crypto-related offerings. Earlier in the year, Revolut launched Revolut Ramp in partnership with MetaMask, targeting users in the UK and Europe. Following that, in May, the fintech introduced Revolut X, a trading platform tailored for UK-based retail investors, further solidifying its position as a leading financial app for crypto investors.
Revolut Ramp utilizes the KYC verification already completed in the Revolut app, removing the necessity for repeated checks for current users. This integration facilitates quick purchases of more than 20 cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum and USD Coin. Users can conveniently use their Revolut account balances or linked debit/credit cards through the MetaMask interface. Mazen Eljundi, Global Business Head of Crypto at Revolut, explained this streamlined approach.
