Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced today that the company is launching its ad platform built on The Open Network (TON) blockchain next month. In addition, the platform introduces an ad revenue-sharing system that allows channel owners across 100 countries to receive financial rewards in Toncoin.
According to a message shared by Durov, the Telegram channel owners will start receiving 50% of Telegram’s total advertising revenue following the launch of the ad platform in March. The channel owners are required to display these ads in their respective channels to become eligible for the payment.
The company prioritizes quick and secure reward payments. Thus, as per Durov’s message, Telegram opts for TON to “ensure ad payments and withdrawals are fast and secure.” He declared,
In March, the Telegram Ad Platform will officially open to all advertisers in nearly a hundred new countries. Channel owners in these countries will start receiving 50% of any revenue that Telegram makes from displaying ads in their channels.
The CEO stated that though the broadcast channels on Telegram create one trillion views per month, merely 10% of the views are monetized with Telegram Ads. Consequently, the platform decided to “sell ads and share revenue” with Channel owners in collaboration with the TON network. Commenting on the matter, Durov cited, “This will create a virtuous circle, in which content creators will be able to either cash out their Toncoins — or reinvest them in promoting and upgrading their channels.”
Following the announcement, Toncoin has surged substantially to reach the current price of $2.65. The price marks Toncoin’s daily surge of 22.04%, a weekly surge of 23.57%, and a monthly surge of 23.66%. With a market cap of $9,116,531,460, TON secures the 15th position on CoinMarketCap.
