The U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced the official date of his crypto project launch. On Thursday, Trump released a video on his X platform, proclaiming that September 16 would be the launch date of his project, World Liberty Financial.
In the video, Trump encouraged his supporters and followers to join the live event set for Monday. He stated,
Join me, live on Twitter Spaces at 8 p.m., this September 16th for the launch of World Liberty Financial.
The project has been in the pipeline for the past few months. Further, since August, Trump and his two sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump, hinted at upcoming initiatives in crypto and decentralized finance (DeFi) areas.
Trump, who earlier was unsupportive to the crypto community, is now embracing cryptocurrency and has even taken part in many crypto-based conferences and programs amid anticipations of the upcoming election. One of his notable speeches was at the Bitcoin 2024 conference, in which Trump stated that he would remove SEC Chair Gary Gensler if he is elected as the president. He also added that if he came to power, he would stop the U.S. from selling any of its Bitcoins. Interestingly, the US holds about 213,000 BTC.

Cary Caplan, the co-founder of Dolomite, was named as the project’s advisor. The project will focus on adopting stablecoins, with security as its prime concern.
Security has been tightened following a scam on the X accounts of Trump’s daughter and daughter-in-law. The fraud, which came to light on Sept.4, posted fake links claiming to be tokens associated with World Liberty Financial.
