The Blockchain Bulletin May 27: Dubai Launches First Real Estate Tokenization

Hey folks! Welcome to our latest edition of the Blockchain Bulletin, where we dig out and report on our latest happenings in the past 24 hours.
Dubai is moving forward with a real estate tokenization project aimed at modernizing property ownership and attracting digital investors. Led by the Dubai Land Department (DLD) in partnership with Ctrl Alt and supported by the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) and Dubai Future Foundation, this initiative allows users to purchase shares of real estate assets using the XRP Ledger (XRPL) blockchain. This marks the first time for property deeds to be recorded on a public blockchain in the MENA region. Interested parties can participate via PRYPCO Mint, with a minimum entry of AED 2,000.
John Deaton, a prominent Ripple supporter and founder of CryptoLaw, emphasized the importance of XRPL’s capabilities in real-world asset tokenization, following the announcement. He pointed out that this feature has often been overlooked in the wider crypto community, emphasizing XRPL’s foundational role in bridging digital and real-world assets.

In another blockchain development, Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, recently offered his perspective on Ripple’s potential acquisition of Circle. In a YouTube AMA session, Hoskinson suggested the deal could challenge the current centralized control in the crypto industry. He argued Ripple’s leadership would provide competition to a dominant network made up of Coinbase, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and Circle, which he described as “self-serving” due to their control over listings, liquidity, and stablecoin access.
On the other hand, the cryptocurrency community observes one of the grandest convocations, with the Bitcoin Conference commencing on 27 May at the Venetian Conference Center in Las Vegas. A gathering of some 30,000 attendees and close to 5,000 firms is expected. Thus, a bit fewer than 400 or thereabouts speakers are accepted in the program, concentrating on Bitcoin Layer 2 tech and BTCfi ecosystems. Industry analysts are expecting some announcements relating to regulatory changes, partnerships, and innovations in the industry.
The world’s largest exchange, Binance, announced a live trading capability on its social platform, Binance Square. This means verified creators can live stream their trading strategy while viewers can place futures or spot trades during the streaming session. Binance wants to narrow the gap between the knowledge of a strategy and putting it into trade, making crypto trading easier and more interactive for its community.
From the institutional perspective, Strategy bought a huge amount of Bitcoin from May 19 to May 25, 2025. They raised $427 million via at-the-market offerings to purchase 4,020 Bitcoins at an average price of roughly $106,237 per coin. This brought the total holdings of Strategy to 580,250 Bitcoins, with a total investment of $40.61 billion and an average cost of $69,979 per coin. The ATM programs of Strategy consisted of common and preferred stock offerings, both of which still have a considerable number of shares available for issuance. These purchases reflect the continued institutional bullishness on Bitcoin.
The updates dwell in a market that continuously evolves with various defining factors like the advancements in real estate tokenization, leadership perspectives on market competitiveness, significant events, new trading features, and, more importantly, institutional accumulation affecting the landscape of digital assets.
