Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Shares His Thoughts on Twitter Files

Jack Dorsey, a programmer and the former CEO and creator of Twitter, has made a post in which he contributes his two cents to the ongoing conversation around Twitter Files. He said that he would begin with the concepts that he has come to believe as a result of all that he has discovered and experienced as a result of his previous acts as a co-founder and head for Twitter.

In his words:

“Social media must be resilient to corporate and government control. Only the original author may remove content they produce.Moderation is best implemented by algorithmic choice.”

Dorsey went on to say that the Twitter that existed during his tenure as CEO as well as the Twitter that exists now do not adhere to any of these ideals. He continued by saying that this is all his responsibility since he stopped advocating for them the moment an activist bought equity in the firm in the year 2020.

“I no longer had hope of achieving any of it as a public company with no defense mechanisms… I planned my exit at that moment knowing I was no longer right for the company.”

According to Dorsey, his greatest error as CEO of Twitter was investing in constructing tools for them to control the public discourse rather than establishing tools for the individuals using Twitter to simply manage it for themselves. He said that this loaded the firm with too much authority and exposed them up to enormous criticism from the outside.

He continued by criticizing attempts by the government and huge companies to influence and control the public debate, and he said that tweet authors should be the only ones allowed to erase their own messages.
