Astar Network Incorporates Celer Inter-Chain Messaging  to Build Multichain Native dApps

Astar Network, the parachain of Polkadot that enables developers to build interoperable dApps, announced that it is building the “future multichain smart contract hub” with the support of Celer Network, the leading blockchain interoperability protocol secured by its unique State Guardian Network (SGN).

Astar is incorporating Celer’s Inter-chain Message (Celer IM) Framework to build cross-chain connected smart contracts and dApps.

Celer IM is a hybrid framework that consists primarily of a State Guardian Network (SGN), a Message Bus contract, an Executor that sends cross-chain messages, and an optional Independent watchtower that double-validates cross-chain messages signed by SGN validators.

According to the announcement, Astar developers will be able to build inter-chain native dApps that can leverage diverse multi-blockchain ecosystems using Celer IM. With the ease of a single-transaction UX and without the need for complex manual interactions involving multiple third-party bridges.

Astar developers can send the intention as a message to the Celer IM Message Bus smart contract on the Astar Network, and the validator, known as the State Guardian Network, will first reach a consensus on the existence of this message while also generating a stake-weighed multi-signature attestation.

Subscribed executors then relay that attestation to the destination chain’s Message Bus contract, which will validate the message and trigger the corresponding logic associated with the message immediately or after a buffer delay based on the security model selected by the dApp developer.

The end goal of Astar Network is to build the multichain smart contract hub that removes the limits for developers in the coming multichain era. Creating the space for developers to build and realize their visions freely, using the programming languages and development tools you are familiar with, supported by XVM. reads the blog post.

The team concludes that developers can build stellar dApps with three major tools, including Celer IM, XCM and XVM. XCM connects developers to any Polkadot parachain, and XVM enables developers to create multi-VM dApps.

Astar Network was named Product of the Year at the 4th annual Blockchain Award by the Japan Blockchain Association last week, while the firm’s founder and CEO, Sota Watanabe, was named Person of the Year for the second year in a row.
