Build on Bitcoin Joins Chainlink Scale for BTCFi Expansion

  • BOB integrates Chainlink data feeds to enhance Bitcoin-backed DeFi development.
  • BOB adopts Chainlink CCIP for smooth cross-chain transfers and improved interoperability.
  • BOB combines Bitcoin’s security with Ethereum’s programmability for scalable DeFi solutions.

Build on Bitcoin (BOB), a hybrid Bitcoin-secured ZK rollup based on the Ethereum blockchain, announced its integration with Chainlink Scale on August 5. This partnership aims to boost the BOB Bitcoin DeFi (BTCFi) ecosystem and use Chainlink’s decentralized data infrastructure. The collaboration will integrate Chainlink Data Feeds on BOB and allow developers to create secure, scalable financial markets powered by the Bitcoin blockchain.

This integration enables applications being developed in BOB to get real-time, tamper-resistant data via data oracles provided by Chainlink. This will allow the development of Bitcoin-native decentralized finance (DeFi) applications in lending, trading, and derivatives markets.

By integrating and using Chainlink institutional-grade services at the network layer, BOB will develop a safer, more decentralized, and dependable environment than existing Bitcoin DeFi ecosystems, ensuring the safety, scalability, and efficacy of platform-built applications.

The BOB decision to collaborate with Chainlink is consistent with its mission to integrate Bitcoin’s security alongside Ethereum’s programmability. By adding Chainlink price feeds and proof of reserve oracles, BOB will have the infrastructural capabilities to introduce the required safety measures to Bitcoin-backed financial services.

Chainlink data feeds, run by independent, globally distributed node operators, are robust and unlikely to be easily attacked or data manipulated. These oracles are merged into high-value APIs to prevent single points from breaking down so that customers will get accurate, reliable information.

Another key benefit of Chainlink infrastructure is the institutional quality of security. The network developed by Chainlink has years of service and has been used to protect assets. This security is especially critical to the BTCFi ecosystem that BOB promotes because reliable and transparent data is even more crucial in making sure that market participants trust the prices and transactions that take place on the network. With Chainlink’s services, BOB can reduce data integrity and market manipulation threats and enable success in the decentralized financial markets.

In addition, BOB has integrated the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) developed by Chainlink as the official cross-chain layer. This protocol enables the easy exchange of native assets like USDC and OpenUSDT between BOB and other blockchains. Through the CCIP offered by Chainlink, BOB is expected to open its interoperability with other DeFi platforms, extending its network beyond the Bitcoin network.

The other distinct feature that makes BOB stand out among other blockchain projects is its hybrid ZK rollup design. In contrast to existing DeFi networks, BOB unites the programmability of Ethereum with the security of Bitcoin, so that applications deployed using BOB are not merely scalable but anchored by the economic security of Bitcoin.

In addition, the collaboration between BOB and Chainlink is another key milestone in the evolution of Bitcoin DeFi. With the decentralized finance market expected to expand further, BOB’s capability to provide secure, scalable, and Bitcoin-stable financial products means that it can be among the pioneers in decentralized finance.

According to Alexei Zamyatin, co-founder of BOB, Bitcoin DeFi referred to it as “the biggest opportunity of the decade.” Chainlink will enable BOB to become the gateway to unlocking the wealth-generating potential of Bitcoin and can pave the way for BTCFi to penetrate the blockchain community.

Chainlink Chief Business Officer, Johann Eid, noted that BOB integration into Chainlink Scale is a critical step in developing the application with the power to unlock the potential of BTCFi.
