IBM Partners with Dfns to Build Secure Digital Asset Haven

  • IBM launches Digital Asset Haven to simplify and secure global digital asset operations.
  • The platform, built with Dfns, merges IBM infrastructure and advanced wallet technology.
  • It automates blockchain transactions across 40 networks for transparent institutional use.

IBM has announced the Digital Asset Haven, a platform created to assist financial institutions, governments, and businesses in managing their digital asset operations. The platform, built in collaboration with Dfns, is a blend of IBM’s trusted infrastructure and next-generation wallet technology. It aims to simplify compliance, strengthen security, and streamline asset management worldwide.

Dfns, a digital wallet infrastructure provider, has created more than 15 million wallets for over 250 clients. Its collaboration with IBM brings together deep experience in blockchain technology and institutional-grade wallet management. The Digital Asset Haven is built to support organizations that need reliable, regulated, and scalable tools for digital asset operations.

IBM Enhances Digital Asset Control and Automation

IBM stated that the platform supports residency controls, programmable multi-party approvals, and policy-based governance. These features help institutions operate within regulatory frameworks while maintaining operational flexibility.

Tom McPherson, General Manager of IBM Z and LinuxONE, said the platform provides the resilience and data governance that clients demand. He added that Digital Asset Haven enables organizations to confidently expand into the digital asset space.

The platform includes Transaction Lifecycle Management, which automates blockchain processes from execution and routing to monitoring and settlement. It supports more than 40 public and private blockchains. The automation reduces complexity and improves transparency across large-scale institutional operations.

A Governance and Entitlement Management framework adds customizable multi-party authorization and policy enforcement. This allows organizations to define detailed approval chains and operational controls. IBM designed this layer to meet the requirements of banks, governments, and other regulated entities.

Secure Infrastructure for Global Digital Asset Management

Digital Asset Haven provides enterprise users with wallet creation, transactions, seed holding, and private key management all from one interface. The platform also offers pre-integrated services for KYC, AML, and yield generation to make deployment easy. The platform allows developers to connect existing systems with APIs and SDKs.

At a core level, it is driven by Multi-Party Computation, Hardware Security Modules, and IBM’s Offline Signing Orchestrator. Jointly, they provide a comprehensive security framework for hot and cold storage. The architecture is also underpinned by quantum-safe cryptography, future-proofing institutions for next-generation encryption demands.

Clarisse Hagège, CEO of Dfns, said the partnership with IBM creates a platform that goes beyond custody to orchestrate the entire digital asset ecosystem. She noted that the solution moves digital asset projects from pilot phases to global production.

IBM intends to make Digital Asset Haven available as a SaaS and hybrid SaaS offering in Q4 2025. A version for on-premises is due in the second quarter of 2026. The gradual deployment allows institutions to choose the right security and compliance approach.

IBM has been involved in blockchain for over a decade, driving enterprise initiatives like Hyperledger. Dfns already has a working relationship with IBM, since the platform is integrated with IBM Hyper Protect Virtual Servers. This native wallet permeation brings a hardware-secured institutional security solution to life.

In 2022, Dfns raised $13.5 million in seed funding from White Star Capital, with participation by Coinbase Ventures and other investors. In 2024, it raised $16 million in additional Series A funding. These investments have contributed to its infrastructure being strengthened as well as increasing the number of institutional partners.

The launch of Digital Asset Haven follows IBM’s 2024 introduction of its Lightweight Engine for WatsonX.ai. This releases advanced AI deployment for businesses. Now, IBM is applying the same disciplined, enterprise-grade approach to digital assets, reinforcing its position as a key player in the future of financial technology.
