LUNC’s Developer Upgrades Rebel -2 Testnet To v2.0.0 With Cosmos SDK v0.45

Joint L1 Task Force developers working on Terra Classic (LUNC) have updated the rebel-2 testnet to version 2.0.0 using Cosmos SDK version 0.45. It is a huge win for the Terra Classic community, as the CosmWasm v1.1.0 upgrade (parity) is scheduled on May 31 and would finally allow projects and builders from Cosmos and Terra Luna 2.0 to use the Terra Classic chain once more. Edward Kim, a core developer, joined the upgrade team, which was a surprise.

The project manager of the L1 Task Force shared the news of this remarkable success of their upgrade shared in a tweet:

Edward Kim has released screenshots of the Block Entropy whitepaper, an artificial intelligence chain. A limited number of ML inference tasks, artificial intelligence (AI) image diffusion, text language models, and music production would be supported by TestNet. Later, Testnet plans to provide features like SNARK verification, Python APIs, and distributed training.

The May 17 mainnet upgrade to Cosmos SDK v0.45.11 Columbus-5 is now ready for deployment by the Joint L1 Task Force. The development team would soon release a proposal on Agora to upgrade the mainnet to version 2.0.0.

Notably, the developer group has said that they would be able to perform the Cosmos SDK and Tendermint upgrades on the Rebel-2 testnet significantly earlier than originally scheduled (May 5). On May 9, the Rebel-2 testnet would receive the Tendermint upgrade.

It’s worth noting that Edward Kim, a Terra Classic core developer, helped with the update. Participating in the rebel-2 testnet upgrade to v2.0.0 using Cosmos SDK v0.45 were validators like StakeBin, Allnodes, Lunanauts, StellarDrift, and SolidVote.

The upgrade to CosmWasm 1.1.0 Parity is scheduled for May 31. As a result, developers and projects from all across the Cosmos and Terra Luna 2.0 will again be able to utilize the Terra Classic network.
