Crypto YouTuber Bitboy Crypto Sues Atozy For Defamation

Ben Armstrong a.k.a BitBoy Crypto, one of YouTube’s biggest crypto influencers, has filed a defamation lawsuit against another YouTube celebrity Erling Mengshoel a.k.a “Atozy”, accusing him of defamation and being a fraud because of the unusual coin he promotes. He is seeking damages in excess of $75,000.

In the case, which was reported by Law360 on Monday, Armstrong stated that the influencer Erling Mengshoel severely harmed his business and connections after releasing a video in November 2021 that ridiculed BitBoy for pushing frauds and pumping micro-cap cryptocurrencies to subscribers. According to Atozy, Armstrong is not the kind of person who should be looked up to in any capacity in order to glean any sort of cryptocurrency-related advice.

He was also saying that BitBoy has a reputation for being a sleazy dirtbag who takes advantage of his audience for the sake of making a quick buck rather than providing them with honest advise.

“You don’t know whether he’s trying to enrich you or himself,” he said.

“Can there be a more damaging assertion for someone like BitBoy Crypto, who engages in the business of providing advice and commentary on cryptocurrency investments?”

The lawsuit filed by Bitboy Crypto seeks general, compensatory, and special damages for defamation, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, tortious interference with business, and breaches of Georgia’s Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act and Fair Business Practice Act.

The court filing stated further: “As a result of Defendant’s outrageous statements, Armstrong now suffers from severe anxiety that he will be perceived as a felon, a fraud, and untrustworthy in business or in general.”
