Soneium Partners with LINE to Boost Web3 Adoption: Report

  • Soneium and LINE partner to bring four mini-apps on-chain, boosting blockchain accessibility.
  • LINE’s 200M users could access web3 seamlessly through Soneium’s blockchain integration.
  • The partnership enables mini-app developers to adopt blockchain without disrupting users.

Soneium, developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs has announced a partnership with LINE to incorporate four mini-applications into its blockchain system. LINE, with over 200 million active users, aims to enhance the Web3 experience through this integration. The goal is to make blockchain interactions more seamless, efficient, and inclusive.

LINE’s mini-apps have long been a key part of its digital ecosystem, providing users with integrated experiences. These apps will integrate with Soneium’s blockchain technology, ensuring decentralization while maintaining the familiar LINE interface. This makes the adoption of blockchain technology seamless and does not interfere with the general user experience.

Soneium is also directly supporting LINE Mini App developers with marketing strategies, community building, and IP utilization. This approach removes the technical and marketing challenges developers typically encounter when integrating blockchain into Web3.

Blockchain for Mainstream Users

LINE is a popular digital service provider that has become a part of people’s daily lives for millions of users. The decision to adopt blockchain-powered applications is in line with its strategic plan of improving digital interactions in the long run. Soneium and LINE are helping to bring decentralized technology to the general public and continue the process of shifting from web2 to web3.

Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. He stated:

LINE has built a strong presence and integrating successful mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem is a next step toward making Soneium more accessible.

Soneium’s Growing Influence

Soneium was launched in January and is a layer-2 blockchain built on Ethereum, utilizing Optimism’s OP Stack. Designed to bridge traditional internet users with decentralized applications, the platform has gained traction since its inception. According to L2 Beat, it ranks as the 15th largest layer-2 blockchain by total value locked (TVL), highlighting its growing significance.
