Tether and Bitqik Launch Nationwide Crypto Education Program

  • Tether and Bitqik launched a program in Laos to educate 10,000 people on Bitcoin and stablecoins.
  • The initiative targets students, workers, and businesses through events and online education.
  • The program highlights stablecoin use as Tether expands Bitcoin reserves and global outreach.

Tether and Bitqik have launched a nationwide education initiative in Laos focused on Bitcoin and stablecoins. The program aims to improve financial literacy and promote practical understanding of digital assets. According to an official release, the initiative will run throughout 2026. It targets more than 10,000 people across the country.

The program brings together Tether, the issuer of USDT, and Bitqik, a licensed Lao crypto exchange. Both companies say education remains key to wider digital finance participation. The initiative focuses on explaining how digital money works in everyday situations. It also introduces blockchain concepts using simple language and real examples.

Tether and Bitqik say the program aligns with efforts to expand financial inclusion. They aim to help people gain more control over their money and access global markets. The education drive will combine in-person events with online learning materials. It will focus on responsible and informed digital asset use.

Community-focused education across major cities

The initiative targets students, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and local communities. Bitqik Academy will lead most of the education activities. It plans to hold events every three months in key Lao cities. These include Vientiane, Pakse, Vang Vieng, and Luang Prabang.

Each event will feature discussions, workshops, and practical demonstrations. The organizers will demonstrate how stablecoins can help with digital businesses, savings, and payments. The program also includes roadshows and online content. These tools aim to reach participants outside major urban centers.

Bitqik said online materials will help learners continue studying independently. The content will explain Bitcoin basics, blockchain technology, and stablecoin usage.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the effort focuses on community-level understanding. He said access alone does not achieve financial inclusion. Ardoino added that knowledge helps communities use digital tools effectively. He said the partnership reflects Tether’s focus on grassroots education.

Bitqik CEO Virasack Viravong welcomed the collaboration. He said Bitqik Academy will guide the program throughout 2026. Viravong explained that the initiative aims to broaden access to digital assets. He said education helps Lao users participate safely in digital finance.

Education initiative follows Tether’s Bitcoin expansion

The Laos program comes as Tether expands its digital asset footprint. Earlier this month, Ardoino confirmed a major Bitcoin purchase. He said Tether bought 8,888 Bitcoin in late 2025. The purchase was worth about $800 million at the time.

The acquisition raised Tether’s total Bitcoin holdings above 96,000 BTC. At current prices, the holdings are worth around $8.4 billion. This places Tether among the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holders. The company has steadily increased its exposure over time.

Tether previously disclosed it allocates 15% of quarterly profits to Bitcoin. This strategy allows gradual accumulation rather than one-time purchases. The company said this approach supports long-term reserve diversification. It also aligns with Tether’s broader digital asset strategy.

Through the Laos initiative, Tether and Bitqik aim to show real-world use cases. The focus remains on USDT and practical blockchain applications.Organizers said the program will encourage informed participation in digital economies. They plan to track engagement through seminars and digital platforms.
