On April 28, 2025, the University of the Hespérides in Spain will begin offering the country’s first specialized Master’s program in Bitcoin. The program is designed to provide in-depth academic and practical knowledge of digital assets to professionals such as engineers, entrepreneurs, attorneys, and economists. That is done through a ten-month online curriculum taught entirely in Spanish. The program typically awards 60 ECTS credits and aims to prepare graduates to work in emerging crypto-regulatory environments, global tech shifts, and institutional digital frameworks.
Professional-Grade Curriculum Targets Crypto’s Legal and Practical Framework
The program covers Bitcoin’s monetary theory, legal frameworks, technological foundations, and investment strategies. Participants will also explore protocol mechanics and regulatory compliance.
Additionally, they will receive instruction on self-custody operations, proof-of-work mining mechanisms, and related taxation practices. Educational tools include a Blockstream Jade hardware wallet and a published guide authored by program director Álvaro D. María. Workshops will be held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for students interested in optional in-person sessions. The course also incorporates practical assignments through masterclasses, seminars, and industry-specific case studies.
Professionals from Jan3 and BTC Inc. will join the teaching staff, including economist Juan Ramón Rallo, who stated, “Bitcoin is the most important monetary revolution in decades—and it will shape our future.”
