Circle Internet Financial announced earlier today that it recruited Heath Tarbert from Citadel Securities to serve as its Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and Head of Corporate Affairs. Tarbert previously served as the 14th Chairman and Chief Executive of the U.S. Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Circle’s Chief Executive Jeremy Allaire recently took to Twitter to announce Tarbert’s appointment as the company’s legal chief:

According to a press release by Circle, Heath Tarbert previously worked with the World Bank, the U.S. Department of Treasury, the Department of Justice, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the White House. Allaire stated that Tarbert would bring extensive experience to the role, having worked across all three branches of the United States government.
Speaking on the company’s latest recruitment, Allaire proclaimed, “Heath deeply aligns with our company’s mission and values, shows exceptional integrity and purpose in his work, and can be a meaningful contributor to driving the kind of change we hope to see in the global economic system”.
Allaire indicated that appointing Tarbert could help Circle build durable relationships with governments around the world going forward. The former CFTC Chairman boasted an impressive portfolio, including vice chairman of the International Organization of Securities Commissions and the former deputy finance minister for G-7/G-20.
As per the statement, Heath Tarbert succeeded Circle’s current General Counsel, Flavia Naves, who announced her separation from the stablecoin giant earlier this year. Naves oversaw the USD Coin issuer’s successful expansion and financing rounds while establishing a “world-class” legal organization. The press release stated that Tarbert would take charge as the new CLO on July 1, 2023.
Earlier today, Circle CEO was named a co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s upcoming Annual Meeting of the New Champions that is scheduled to be held in Tianjin, China between June 27 and June 29, 2023.
