Franklin Templeton Launches Bitcoin-Ethereum Combo ETF

  • Franklin Templeton launched the EZPZ ETF, combining Bitcoin and Ethereum exposure.
  • EZPZ offers a low-cost way to invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum, with plans for future growth.
  • The fund has a 0.19% fee waived until August, with Coinbase serving as its custodian.

Franklin Templeton has released its new Bitcoin and Ethereum combination ETF, Franklin Crypto Index ETF (EZPZ), on the Cboe BZX exchange. It comes two months after the SEC approved the launch of new products to enhance the firm’s digital asset services. EZPZ offers investors exposure to a fund that tracks the market capitalization of Bitcoin and Ethereum. Bitcoin dominates 82% of the fund, while Ethereum accounts for the remaining 18%. The ETF provides an effective and more affordable way for investors to invest in both cryptocurrencies.

Franklin Templeton’s Vision

Franklin Templeton’s Global Head of ETF Products and Capital Markets, David Mann, stated that EZPZ is a simple and cost-effective investment option. He stated the fund provides affordable access to the two largest blockchain environments. The firm has not ruled out adding other digital assets in the future, provided they comply with regulatory requirements.

The fund has a sponsor fee of 0.19% of its net assets, though this fee is waived until August. Coinbase serves as the custodian of the fund. EZPZ is Franklin Templeton’s third ETF in the digital assets market. The company initially introduced the EZBC spot Bitcoin ETF in January 2024 and the EZET spot Ethereum ETF in July 2024.

Growing Institutional Interest

EZPZ follows Hashdex’s launch of the first Bitcoin and Ethereum combo ETF on February 14. Both funds were approved by the SEC on December 20, reflecting growing institutional demand for digital assets.

James Seyffart, an ETF analyst at Bloomberg, noted that the popularity of crypto ETFs is steadily increasing. He stated that both funds could evolve into broader crypto index ETFs as the SEC considers allowing more digital assets under the ETF umbrella.
